"I'm very pleased to have your photo in the attached issue. I'm confident that people will see this picture and be amazed and horrified. And I am sure it will emerge as one of the classic environmental images. It's a real winner!"
David Friend....Director of photography, Life Magazine USA 1996

 Hi Paul
This is the final proof going over to designers today.  Thought you'd like to see it. Check out the back page for your credit.  I think it looks fantastic and Seabury has been really pleased with the photographs you took.  They meshed really well.  It's a credit to you and I'm very pleased with the look and feel of this publication.  Many thanks for your hard work and the ambassadorial role you adopt.  Looking forward to buying you a drink at the Awards ceremony.”

"The Corfe Mullen lanes pictures are excellent.  From my perspective I think they capture the issues relating to that project and also capture the concept of the Quiet Lanes Scheme as a whole.  I think you have provided a good mix of issues and users which I was hoping to see.  I think the number of images was also about right.  If you had just taken the standard 25 as in the contract brief some of the elements of the project would have been missed."

"Your work on the photo research for our publication "Call for the Wild" was both thorough and imaginative.  The quality and impact of the images, including a number of your own photographs, was excellent. You made a significant personal contribution to the effectiveness of the publication."

"Thank you for your feature on the Uist islands in Scotland.  As usual the package was top quality and my designer is so excited about the excellent photographs that she wants to do the layout straightaway.  We are very likely to use one for the cover.

"His first solo exhibition reinforces our concerns about the environmental situation ...yet it also shows us the beauty of the wild places that must be protected."

Paul always comes up with a set of arresting images, which are often used on page one. I think that he is in the humanistic tradition of documentary photography, exemplified by Picture Post and Time magazine – that is, he is clearly able to empathise with people working in natural environments and to come up with pictures that combine human interest with great composition and, in many cases, natural beauty. He is also – valuable qualities in a photographer – reliable, pleasant and easy to deal with. Will HatchettEditor

He interprets the brief with care, he works within budget and to deadlines, and he always goes the extra mile – his images are first class. Commissioning photography is always slightly risky, in the sense that you never quite know what you’ll get, but with Paul I’m always confident that he’ll do his absolute best and deliver something out of the ordinary. Not only that, but he’s a pleasure to deal with. I recommend him without hesitation.

Dear Paul

I viewed your DVD this morning, and what you've done is superb! There are some very strong cover options (cleverly composed!) and a great variety of other shots. Clive and Gilly are very photogenic! I am so grateful to you for all your effort - I won't forget!
Thanks a million, SJ
